Noor Mode
Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
Noor Mode ("the app") is a free, ad-free Islamic companion app made by Mohammad Elhennamy ("we"). This policy explains what information the app uses and why.
- No accounts, no ads, and we never sell data.
- Your dhikr, counters and settings stay on your device.
- Your approximate location is used only to calculate prayer times.
- We collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the app.
Location
If you allow location access, the app reads your location while it is open and sends it, rounded to about 1 km, to the Aladhan prayer times service (aladhan.com) to calculate prayer times. If you enter a city instead, the city and country name are sent. Your location is stored only on your device. The app never accesses your location in the background.
Anonymous usage analytics
The app uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand how features are used (for example, which screens are opened or when a tasbih goal is reached). This includes an app-instance identifier, device model, operating system and app version, and an approximate region derived from your IP address. It is not linked to your identity, advertising ID collection is disabled, and it is not used to track you across other apps or websites. The text of any dhikr you type is never sent. See Firebase privacy.
Data stored on your device
Your custom adhkar, tasbih and athkar counts, notification preference, language, calculation method and saved location are stored locally on your device and shared only with the app's widget on the same device. They are never uploaded. Deleting the app deletes this data.
Notifications
Prayer reminders are scheduled locally on your device. We do not send push notifications and do not collect a push token.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
- Deny or revoke location access in iOS Settings and enter your city manually instead.
- Turn off prayer reminders in the app or in iOS Settings.
- Delete the app to remove all locally stored data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
